What Year Did You Start Supporting United
1985
Why United
Probably rebelling against my Tim Celtic supporting mates and family, plus they were actually quite good then.
First United Match
It was against Celtic at Tannadice in about 1985-86. Went with family to Celtic end and United went 4-0 up. It was murder. It finished 4-2 to United.
Favourite All-Time Player
Eamonn Bannon (if you erase the Hearts years from memory).
Favourite Current Player
...
When did you first hear about the Glenrothes Arabs and how?
...
Most Memorable Goal
Clarkie at Nou Camp.
Best/Favourite Goal
Eamonn Bannon v Hearts in December 1986 at Tannadice. He got the ball at the United right corner flag, ran diagonally the full length of the pitch and hit a screamer into the bottom right corner. It was the same game as Iain Ferguson's goal from the half way line.
Regretted Missing a Game
Home game v Barcelona. I'd been to the Lens, Split and Craiova matches at Tannadice but couldn't afford the ticket on my meagre Safeway wages.
Favourite Away Ground
Dens Park.
Worst Away Ground
Ibrox (you'll know if you've been) and Tynecastle (tip and we always lost).
Best Home Match
All the home "Shed" games of yesteryear bring a wee lump to the throat and a tear to the eye. The surges, Rammy whistling, leading the singing, silly scoring dances, a good team, small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts etc. etc. The golden years of my life as supporter.
Best Away Match
It was game at Dens v Dundee. We won 4-0 (Bollan, Connolly (x2), Dailly) and were awesome. But the best thing was that Stuart Nicoll, the only Dundee supporter I knew at that time, came on the bus. He still hasn't lived it down.
Ever Cried at a Game
Never cried as such, but definitely wet eyes (?) at Hampden (Motherwell and Rangers) for different reasons (Wet eyes my arse! He was in tears along with me when Jackson scored the equiliser in the last minute in the Motherwell Cup Final!! - bod)

Proudest United Moment

Barcelona. It was the first time I can remember it being COOL to support United.

Furthest You've Travelled to Watch United
Antwerp (1989) and Arnhem (1990).
Favourite English Team
Manchester United. I was a fan through the dark ages, Arthur Albiston etc, need I say more!
Most Disliked Team
Rangers. Rangers. Rangers. And Rangers. (Tim upbringing again).
Most Prized United Possession
A signed shirt worn by Alec Clelend in an actual game. The only drawback is that it wasn't signed until he was a Hun.
Statto Fact
When I played at Tannadice recently, I hung my dirty pants on Rab Shannon's old peg!
