2003 - Billy Dodds made his 2nd debut for United after returning from Rangers, and scored a first half equaliser against Kilmarnock at Tannadice after future United player Peter Canero had given Kilmarnock the lead. Ex-United star Andy McLaren put the Rugby Park club in front again in the second half, but Jim McIntyre scored a 90th minute equaliser for a 2-2 draw.
2008 - An explosive match at Tannadice got under way when United were awarded an indirect free-kick in the box and Barry Robson smashed home the lay off, before Hearts equalised just before the break. With 20 minutes to go, an off the ball incident saw Hearts midfielder Zaliukas sent off, with United awarded a penalty kick and Robson put United 2-1 up from the spot kick. United then ripped Hearts apart, with Noel Hunt adding a third before Hearts full-back Wallace was sent off after bringing down Robson in the box and Robson completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Michael Stewart was also sent off for Hearts in the dying minutes.
1927 - A crowd of 20,000, a then record attendance for a Scottish League match at Tannadice, watched United record their first ever League win over Dundee, as Jock Kay scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory.
1966 - After going down to a Steve Murray goal at Tannadice, Ian Mitchell equalised just before half time in the New Year Dundee derby. Finn Seemann scored the winner 5 minutes into the second half, as United won their second Dundee derby of the 1965/66 season.

1990 - United won 1-0 at Tannadice as Darren Jackson scored surely the easiest goal of his career, as he cheekily lay down to nod the ball over the line from a foot out, after Dunfermline keeper Ian Westwater had fumbled a shot.

McClair scored again with 3 minutes remaining as United won 4-2.

1977 - Striker Tom McAdam scored against Celtic at Tannadice, cancelling out Kenny Dalglish's opener, but Celtic went on to win 2-1 with a late winner. McAdam would later sign for Celtic, making over 250 appearances for the Glasgow club, mostly in defence.
1994 - Scott Crabbe scored against his former club after just three minutes in the match against Hearts at Tannadice, with Paddy Connolly adding a 2nd 10 minutes later. Hearts were well beaten when Craig Brewster made it 3-0 with 15 minutes left. Trinidad & Tobago internationalist Jerren Nixon made his debut for the club as a second half substitute.
2011 - United began their defence of the Scottish Cup at Tannadice, ironically against the team they had beaten in the Final at Hampden just 7 months before, Ross County. The match failed to live up to the hype though, with both teams failing to score in the freezing cold with the game finishing in a 0-0 draw.
1926 - A Micky Campbell goal helped United to a 1-1 draw with Falkirk at Brockville, as the club remained undefeated in their last three away outings in United's inaugural season in the first division.

2010 - After a disappointing New Year, United got their season back on track with a 2-0 victory over Partick Thistle in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup. Damien Casalinuovo opened the scoring in controversial circumstances in the first half, but a fantastic solo effort by David Goodwillie late in the second half sealed the win.

1976 - Three goals down at Pittodrie after an hour, goals from Alex Reid and Paul Hegarty brought United right back into the match against Aberdeen, but Alex Reid's 81st minute penalty is sandwiched between two further Aberdeen goals in a pulsating 5-3 defeat.
1987 - A highly entertaining game at a snow covered Tannadice saw United go 2-0 up against Celtic with goals from Iain Ferguson and Kevin Gallacher. Celtic's Brian McClair pulled the scores level with 2 goals in the second half, but Eamonn Bannon grabbed the winner for United with 15 minutes left with a great finish.

1986 - Eamonn Bannon cancelled out Gary Mackay's goal just 6 minutes after Hearts had taken a second half lead, as United earned a 1-1 draw at Tynecastle.
1992 - United looked to be winning the points against Airdrie at Tannadice when Victor Ferreyra put them in front with just five minutes to go. However there was still drama to come as Airdrie equalised two minutes later before Darren Jackson grabbed an even later winner for a 2-1 victory.

1970 - Ian Mitchell scored his third senior hat-trick for United at Broomfield, but Airdrie still managed to win the match 6-3.

Charlie Miller then came off the bench with 20 minutes to go to change the game, scoring with a header with 5 minutes remaining before winning a penalty for Billy Dodds to score the decisive goal in the last minute for a 3-2 victory.
2005 - United faced Gretna for the first time as the Scottish Cup 3rd round tie at Raydale Park finally got the go ahead after several call offs due to bad weather. Barry Robson, Mark Kerr and Mark Wilson (pen) put United 3-0 up in the first half, but the game changed after Wilson missed a penalty and Gretna pulled 2 goals back in the first 5 minutes of the second half. New signing Stevie Crawford made the game safe and United hold on for a 4-3 victory.

1995 - A fantastic win for United as they hammered Motherwell 6-1 at Tannadice. After Tommy Coyne's opener for Motherwell, Billy McKinlay and Jerren Nixon both grabbed 2 goals with Craig Brewster and Christian Dailly adding to the scoreline as Brazilian Sergio made his United debut.
1949 - Celtic were shocked at Tannadice when they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup to Second Division side United. Peter McKay opened the scoring with a penalty, then Jimmy Dickson made it 2-0 to United. Celtic pulled two goals back in the second half, but Peter McKay scored again just for Celtic to equalise for a second time. George Cruickshank scored the winner in a famous 4-3 victory where United also had 3 goals disallowed in front of a crowd of 25,000. The newspaper reports of this game lead to the United's nickname of 'The Terrors'.
1983 - Billy Kirkwood scored a cracker from the edge of the box against St Mirren at Tannadice, and United stormed into a 3-0 lead with a further two goals from Davie Dodds all within the opening 20 minutes. St Mirren came back with two goals in the second half to make for a nervous end to the match, but United held out for a 3-2 win.
2002 - Derek Lilley scored a hat-trick against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park, with Charlie Miller also scoring in a 4-1 win.
2011 - A first-half goal appeared to have given 10 men Kilmarnock the victory at Rugby Park before substitute Gary Kenneth popped up with a 35-yard right foot thunderbolt earned nine men United a deserved point. In an action-packed 90 minutes, Alexei Eremenko saw red for Kilmarnock before Scott Robertson and captain Jon Daly were dismissed for United during an eventful second half.
1954 - United suffered the clubs worst ever defeat with a 12-1 hammering at the hands of eventual B Division champions Motherwell at Fir Park, where Andy Tait had put United in front in the first minute. Motherwell's Wilson Humphries grabbed 6 goals that day, and three years later would sign for United to spend two seasons at Tannadice.

1990 - After a goalless draw at Dens Park in the first match, John Clark scored the only goal of the tie as United beat Dundee 1-0 in the Scottish Cup 3rd round replay at Tannadice. This was the fourth year in a row that United had knocked Dundee out of the Scottish Cup.
1993 - Ex-United youngster Neil Duffy opened the scoring when Falkirk visited Tannadice on League duty, but goals from Scott Crabbe and Paddy Connolly turned the match around. Jim McInally's red card with minutes to go failed to have any effect on the 2-1 final score.

1913 - Dundee Hibs demolished Johnstone at Tannadice, where David Scrimgeour grabbed a hat-trick. Willie Linn, William Welsh, Tom Gallacher and an own goal completed the 7-1 victory against the men from Renfrewshire.

1990 - Kevin Gallacher was sold to Coventry City for £900,000 after 7 years, 188 appearances and 40 goals for United. He would go on to win the English Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers, and win over 50 caps for Scotland.

2001 - Jim Lauchlan scored twice in the opening 20 minutes as United beat Third Division side Montrose 2-0 at Links Park in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup.
2010 - 2-0 down to St Johnstone at half-time, United pulled one back with a Jon Daly header 7 minutes into the second half, before Danny Swanson scored an absolute cracker from outside the box to pull United level. Jennison Myrie-Williams then put United 3-2 up with 13 minutes to go but St Johnstone equalised seconds later for a fantastic 3-3 draw at Tannadice.

Scott Crabbe scored after 10 minutes and Craig Brewster fired in a wind assisted long range effort just before half time. Arbroath pulled one back on 56 minutes but Billy McKinlay slotted home a penalty three minutes later. Arbroath scored again with 12 minutes remaining but United squeezed through with a 3-2 victory, and faced Motherwell at Tannadice in the next round.
2005 - In the 3rd Dundee derby of the season, goals from Stuart Duff and Jim McIntyre had put United 2-1 up late in the game, as the team looked to have finally won their first victory over their neighbours in 9 attempts. But a late equaliser for Dundee saw the match finish 2-2 at Tannadice.
1952 - After a tough 3-3 draw away from home with Inverness Caledonian, United won the Scottish Cup 2nd round replay at Tannadice 4-0, with goals from Peter McKay, Frank Quinn (2) and Andy Dunsmore.
1980 - Willie Pettigrew ran riot againt Dundee at Tannadice in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup, scoring 4 goals against the Dark Blues, with Paul Sturrock adding to the 5-1 demolition.
1988 - Alan Irvine (2), Maurice Malpas, Eamonn Bannon, Mixu Paatelainen, Hamish French and Ian Redford all scored in United's biggest win in 3 years, as they hammered Arbroath 7-0 at Gayfield to go through to the 4th round of the Scottish Cup where they would face Airdrie at Broomfield.
1999 - Maurice Malpas made his 800th appearance for the club when United drew 1-1 with Dunfermline at Tannadice, with Kjell Olofsson scoring United's goal in the first half before the Pars equalised in the first minute of the second half.
2003 - Ian McCall became the manager of Dundee United, replacing Paul Hegarty at the helm. McCall brought his management team of Gordon Chisholm and Tony Docherty with him from Falkirk.
2010 - Just three days after drawing 3-3 with St Johnstone at Tannadice, United were involved in yet another high scoring draw. Goals from Prince Buaben and Craig Conway (2) gave United a 3-1 lead at half-time at Rugby Park, but Kilmarnock stormed back to go 4-3 ahead. Jon Daly scored from the penalty spot to bring United level for a ridiculous 4-4 draw.
1951 - After pegging Dundee back to a 2-2 draw in the Scottish Cup tie at Dens Park, United lost out narrowly to a Billy Steele goal in the 1st round replay at Tannadice in front of a crowd of 22,000.
1970 - A high scoring game at Tannadice saw United beat Morton 5-4 with goals from Ian Mitchell (2), Davie Wilson, Doug Smith and a Murray own goal.
1981 - Davie Dodds scored a hat-trick against Airdrieonians at Broomfield, with Eamonn Bannon (pen) and Paul Sturrock also scoring in the 5-0 win.
2001 - In the Dundee derby at Dens Park, Hugh Davidson gave United a first half lead with a header at the back post but Claudio Caniggia euqalised right on half time. A minute after the restart Craig Easton slotted the ball past Roccati to restore United's advantage, and JIm Lauchlan bundled the ball home with 11 minutes to go. Facloner pulled one back for the Dark Blues two minutes from time, but United held out for a 3-2 win, and recorded their first win over their rivals in 3 attempts that season.
2004 - Jim McIntyre finished off a well worked move by Charlie Miller in the second half to give United a 1-0 win over Dunfermline on a freezing cold afternoon at Tannadice.
2008 - After 5 years at Tannadice, where he scored 32 goals in 145 appearances, United captain Barry Robson was transferred to Celtic on the last day of the January transfer window for a substantial fee.
