1st November

1913 - Dundee Hibs take on Forfar Athletic in a Qualifying Cup match at Tannadice, where the ground capacity had been specially extended to accommodate the new ground record of 15,000 as Pat Reilly's team won 1-0 and moved a step closer to the final.

1969 - United take on Partick Thistle at Tannadice where Ian Mitchell scores the only goal of the game.

1975 - Tom McAdam scores two in a 3-1 win over St Johnstone at Tannadice. Paul Hegarty also scores from the penalty spot.

1996 - Manager Tommy McLean signs Norwegian defender Erik Pedersen from Viking FK, after he appeared in a 1-0 win over Hearts as a trialist.

1997 - Kjell Olofsson and Gary McSwegan both score in the last 3 minutes to win the match at Easter Road as United beat Hibs 3-1.

2nd November

1975 - United travel to Portugal to take on Porto in the 2nd leg of the 2nd round of the UEFA Cup. Paul Hegarty cores in a 1-1 draw but it's not enough as United go out 3-2 on aggregate.

1980 - After losing an important away goal in the 1-1 draw with Lokeren in the 1st leg, United draw 0-0 in Belgium and go out of the UEFA Cup in the 2nd round.

1983 - After a 0-0 draw in the 1st leg in Belgium, goals from Ralph Milne (2), Paul Hegarty and Davie Dodds see United beat Standard Liege 4-0 at Tannadice to go through to the next round of the European Cup.

1996 - Kjell Olofsson scores his first goal for United as United beat Motherwell 3-1 at Fir Park. Lars Zetterlund makes his debut and Ray McKinnon scores a belter from the edge of the box.

3rd November

1973 - United take on Falkirk, where, with the score at 2-0 with only 7 minutes remaining, the match is abandoned due to bad fog.

1979 - A 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie sees Eamonn Bannon scores his first goal for the club after joining from Chelsea. Willie Pettigrew and Ian Phillip also score.

1981 - One of the most memorable nights at Tannadice sees United pull back a 2-0 deficit from the 1st leg in Germany, as United hammer Borussia Moenchengladbach 5-0. Ralph Milne and Billy Kirkwood score to level the match, before Paul Sturrock puts United in front. Paul Hegarty scores from close range and Eamonn Bannon finishes the match with an outstanding solo goal.

1982 - A 0-0 draw against Viking Stavanger at Tannadice sees United go through to the 3rd round of the UEFA Cup after winning the 1st leg 3-1 in Norway.

2000 - United manager Alex Smith continues to rebuild the team by signing ex-Rangers midfielder Charlie Miller from Watford.

4th November

1970 - An Alan Gordon goal at Tannadice isn't enough as United go out to Sparta Prague in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in the 2nd round, after losing the 1st leg 3-1.

1987 - John Clark scores to level the 2nd round tie against Vitkovice of Czechoslovakia, but as United push for a winner, they lose a late goal and crash out of the UEFA Cup 3-2 on aggregate.

2000 - Charlie Miller makes his United debut at Fir Park where United lose 2-1 to Motherwell as Jim Lauchlan is sent off. Another new signing, Beto Naveda, scores United's goal.

5th November

1986 - A 1-0 defeat in Romania isn't enough as United knock Universitea Craiova out of the UEFA Cup, 3-1 on aggregate.

1988 - Raphael Meade and Mixu Paatelainen score in a 2-0 win over Dundee at Tannadice.

1995 - Ray McKinnon makes his second United debut as the team take on Stenhousemuir in the League Challenge Cup final at McDiarmid Park. After a disappointing 0-0 draw, United lose out on penalties.

2006 - In Craig Levein's first game as United's new manager, Garry Kenneth equalises for United after Rangers score first at Tannadice, and Lee Mair pops up with a late winner with 5 minutes to go for a memorable 2-1 victory.

6th November

1974 - United lose 1-0 in Turkey as they take on Bursaspor in the 1st leg of the 2nd round of the European Cup Winners Cup.

1985 - After winning the 1st leg 2-0 at Tannadice, Paul Hegarty scores in a 1-1 draw with Vardar Skopje in Yugoslavia as United go through to the 3rd round of the UEFA Cup.

1999 - Jim Paterson scores against Aberdeen before being carried of with a broken leg. Billy Dodds also scores two as Aberdeen are beaten 3-1 at Tannadice.

2004 - After seeing Chris Innes and Mark Wilson sent off, 9 man United look to be holding out for a 0-0 draw in the second Dundee derby of the season, but a late goal gives Dundee a 1-0 victory to take their unbeaten run against United to 8 games.

7th November

1953 - Peter McKay scores his 18th hat-trick of his United career, all in the space of 6 years, in a 4-0 victory over Queen's Park at Tannadice, with Frank Quinn opening the scoring.

1963 - After four seasons at the club, United forward Walter Carlyle leaves Tannadice for Millwall.

1979 - United lose 3-1 in Hungary as they are knocked out of the UEFA Cup by Diosgyor Miskoic 4-1 on aggregate. Frank Kopel scores United's goal.

1984 - Tommy Coyne scores twice in a 5-1 win over LASK Linz of Austria in the 2nd leg of the 2nd round UEFA Cup tie. Richard Gough, Paul Hegarty and Dave Beaumont also score as United win 7-2 on aggregate.

1990 - 1-0 down after the 1st leg in Holland, United lose 4-0 to Vitesse Arnhem at Tannadice in the 2nd round of the UEFA Cup, going out of the tournament at the 2nd round stage for the 4th year in a row.

8th November

1952 - Peter McKay (3) and Frank Quinn score in a 4-2 win over Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill.

1980 - Paul Sturrock scores twice in a 3-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle, with Paul Hegarty opening the scoring.

2003 - Barry Robson scores his first goal for United to put United 2-1 up against Hibs at Easter Road, but a late David McCracken own goal levels the match at 2-2.

9th November

1957 - Johnny Coyle (2), Dave Sturrock, Wilson Humphries and Willie McDonald all score in a 5-2 win over Forfar Athletic at Tannadice.

1977 - In the 1st leg of the League Cup semi-final at Tannadice, Billy Kirkwood, Paul Hegarty and Gordon Wallace score to give United a lead of 3-1 to take to Tynecastle for the 2nd leg.

1988 - Dave Beaumont scores in a 1-1 draw with Dinamo Bucharest in the European Cup Winners Cup 2nd round in Romania, but United pay for conceding a late goal in the 1st leg at Tannadice and go out 2-1 on aggregate.

1997 - Kjell Olofsson scores twice in a 5-0 romp over Aberdeen at Tannadice, with Lars Zetterlund, Andy McLaren and Craig Easton also on the scoresheet.

2004 - In the quarter finals of the League Cup, United go 1-0 down to an impressive Hibs team at Tannadice, but Jim McIntyre scores two late goals to take United through to the semi finals.

10th November

1962 - The match with Rangers sees the floodlights at Tannadice switched on for the first time, as Walter Carlyle and Jim Irvine score in a 2-1 win, United's 2nd victory over Rangers in 3 games since returning to the top flight.

1982 - After losing the 1st leg 2-0 at Parkhead, United fight back in the League Cup semi-final at Tannadice with two goals from Paul Sturrock, but go out 3-2 on aggregate.

1990 - Darren Jackson scores twice at Ibrox to give United a 2-1 win over Rangers. Ally McCoist misses a penalty and Duncan Ferguson comes off the bench to make his United debut.

2000 - Manager Alex Smith signs ex-St Mirren midfielder Jamie Fullarton from Crystal Palace.

11th November

1950 - Peter McKay scores twice in a3-1 win over Forfar Athletic at Station Park, with Frank Quinn also on the scoresheet.

1961 - United beat Stirling Albion 2-0 at Tannadice with goals from Tommy Neilson and Walter Carlyle.

1981 - Goals from Eamonn Bannon and Paul Sturrock give United a 2-0 win over Rangers at Tannadice.

1992 - A Mike Galloway own goal helps United to a 1-1 draw with Celtic at Tannadice.

12th November

1966 - Ian Mitchell scores his 12th goal of the season in a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Tannadice.

1980 - In the 1st leg of the League Cup semi-final, Eamonn Bannon scores in a 1-1 draw against Celtic at Parkhead.

1983 - Eamonn Bannon and Davie Dodds both score twice in a 7-0 thrashing of St Johnstone at Tannadice. Billy Kirkwood, Richard Gough and Paul Hegarty get the other three goals as Tommy Coyne makes his United debut.

13th November

1965 - Frank Munro scores twice in a 4-1 win over Falkirk at Brockville, with Finn Dossing and Finn Seemann also scoring.

1982 - United beat Rangers 4-2 at Tannadice with goals from Ralph Milne (2), Davie Dodds and Richard Gough.

2002 - Derek Lilley scores twice in United's first win at Livingston as United go through to the semi-finals of the League Cup. Alan Smart is sent off after only being on the park for a few minutes.

14th November

1964 - Two goals from Stuart Fraser gives United a 2-0 win over Dunfermline at Tannadice.

1981 - Goals from Ralph Milne and Paul Sturrock (2) see United beat Dundee 3-1 at Dens Park.

1988 - After 3 years at the club, Ian Redford leaves United to join Ipswich Town for 200,000.

1990 - Maurice Malpas captains his country for the first time as Scotland play Bulgaria in Sofia, where United midfielder Jim McInally also plays as Ally McCoist scores for Scotland in a 1-1 draw in a qualifying match for the European Championships.

15th November

1941 - United beat St Bernard's 7-0 in a North Eastern League Cup tie at Tannadice, where Albert Juliussen scores 6 times.

1980 - Paul Sturrock and Davie Dodds score to give United a 2-0 win over St Mirren at Tannadice.

1996 - Tommy McLean manages to tie up the transfer of Kjell Olofsson from Norwegian club Moss for 400,000.

1997 - Mark Perry, Kjell Olofsson and Gary McSwegan score to give United a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock after being 1-0 down at Rugby Park.

16th November

1966 - An historic night sees European football at Tannadice for the first time, as United take on Barcelona in the 2nd leg of the Inter Cities Fairs Cup 2nd round. After an unbelievable 2-1 win in the 1st leg at the Nou Camp, United score again with an Ian Mitchell tap in, and Billy Hainey adds a second from 30 yards out as United knock out the holders 4-1 on aggregate. The all-ticket crowd of 28,000 is a new ground record.

1977 - After winning the 1st leg 3-1 at Tannadice, United lose 2-0 to Hearts at Tynecastle in the semi-finals of the League Cup. The tie goes to penalties where Hearts win 4-2.

1996 - A high scoring match at Pittodrie sees United and Aberdeen draw 3-3, with Kjell Olofsson, Robbie Winters and Andy McLaren scoring for United.

17th November

1960 - Manager Jerry Kerr signs 33 year-old veteran centre forward Neil Mochan from Celtic to add experience to the team's strike force during their first season back in the First Division.

1984 - Paul Sturrock sets a Premier League record by scoring 5 goals in a match as United beat Morton 7-0 at Tannadice. Maurice Malpas and Alex Taylor get the other two goals.

1993 - Ivan Golac returns to his former club Partizan Belgrade to sign Yugoslavian centre-half Gordan Petric for 650,000 - United's new record transfer fee. On the same day, Billy McKinlay scores on his full international debut as Scotland beat Malta 2-0 at the Ta'Qali Stadium, where Colin Hendry also scores.

2001 - Jim Hamilton and Hasney Aljofree score in a 2-1 win over St Johnstone at Tannadice.

18th November

1933 - Edinburgh City come to Tannadice, a match which draws a crowd of 200, the lowest home attendance on record. Willie Ouchterlonie scores 5 times.

1967 - A Dennis Gillespie goal is enough to beat Raith Rovers 1-0 at Starks Park.

1981 - United striker Paul Sturrock scores his first goal for his country in a World Cup Qualifying match against Portugal in Lisbon, but Scotland lose 2-1. Ex-United defender Ray Stewart and future United keeper Billy Thomson also play.

1989 - Kevin Gallacher scores the only goal of the game as United win 1-0 against Celtic at Parkhead.

1992 - Dave Narey appears at Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE, as Maurice Malpas wins his 55th cap for Scotland in a World Cup qualifier against Italy at Ibrox Stadium where the game finishes 0-0.

1993 - Gordon Wallace returns to Tannadice to become Ivan Golac's first team coach after Paul Sturrock's departure to St Johnstone.

19th November

1955 - After a 4-4 draw with Cowdenbeath at Tannadice and a 2-2 away draw with Montrose, United have a third high scoring draw in as many weeks with a 3-3 draw with Ayr United. Johnny Coyle (2) and Sandy Stephen score in the match at Tannadice.

1960 - Neil Mochan scores twice on his debut but United still lose 4-2 to Kilmarnock at Tannadice.

1980 - After drawing 1-1 at Tannadice, United travel to Parkhead for the 2nd leg of the League Cup semi-final against Celtic. Goals from Willie Pettigrew, Paul Sturrock and Davie Dodds take United through to the final 4-1 on aggregate.

1994 - Goals from Grant Johnson, Craig Brewster, Billy McKinlay and Christian Dailly (2) give United a 5-2 win over Hearts at Tannadice, United's first win in 6 games. Robbie Winter's makes his debut in this match.

20th November

1965 - Finn Dossing scores a hat-trick against Motherwell in a 3-0 win at Fir Park.

1971 - United beat East Fife 1-0 at Bayview with a goal from Tommy Traynor.

1982 - Goals from Eamonn Bannon, Davie Dodds and John Reilly give United a 3-0 win over Hibs at Tannadice.

1985 - Scotland face Australia in a play-off to reach the 1986 World Cup Finals in Mexico. United defender Maurice Malpas plays as Scotland win 2-0 in the 1st leg at Hampden. With goals from Frank McAvennie and Davie Cooper.

1993 - Gordan Petric makes his United debut in a 2-0 defeat against Motherwell at Fir Park.

21st November

1925 - The first ever competitive Dundee derby takes place in front of a crowd of 18,000 at Dens, where the match ends goalless.

1973 - David Narey makes his first team debut in a 2-1 win over Falkirk at Tannadice. Kenny Cameron and Archie Knox score in front of a crowd of 1,250 - our lowest post-war attendance due to the miner's strike.

1981 - Maurice Malpas makes his first team debut in a 4-0 win over Airdrie at Tannadice as Eamonn Bannon, Paul Sturrock (2) and Davie Dodds score for United.

1992 - On a snowy night at Dens, Gary Bollan heads United in front in the second derby of the season, but is later sent off after Dundee's equaliser. Paddy Connolly scores to put United in front again, and John Clark scores a bizarre goal to give United a 3-1 win.

22nd November

1980 - Eamonn Bannon, Paul Sturrock and Willie Pettigrew score in a 3-2 win over Partick Thistle at Firhill.

1986 - Eamonn Bannon scores the winner in a 1-0 victory over Hibernian at Easter Road, as Billy McKinlay makes his first team debut.

1998 - Alan Combe replaces Sieb Dykstra in goals and makes his United debut in a 1-0 defeat against Dundee, where James Grady scores a late winner at Tannadice.

23rd November

1963 - Jim Irvine scores twice in a 4-1 win over Third Lanark at Tannadice, with Norrie Davidson and Dennis Gillespie also on the scoresheet.

1968 - Kenny Cameron scores his 14th goal of the season in a 2-0 win over Morton at Tannadice, with Davie Wilson also scoring for United.

2002 - After going down 3-0 at Dens, United fight back with goals from Jim McIntyre and Jim Hamilton, but it's too little too late as Dundee win 3-2.

24th November

1979 - Paul Sturrock and Billy Kirkwood both score twice as United beat Hamilton Accies 6-2 at East End Park in the semi-final of the League Cup. Willie Pettigrew and Paul Hegarty also score as United go through to their first ever League Cup Final.

1982 - After beating Viking Stavanger in the previous round, United face Werder Bremen in the next round of the UEFA Cup. The 1st leg at Tannadice sees Werder Bremen's Meier equalise after Ralph Milne's opener but Dave Narey gives United a slender lead to take to Germany.

1990 - Duncan Ferguson makes his first full team start and forces Stewart McKimmie into conceding an own goal, but Eoin Jess scores a hat-trick to win the match for Aberdeen, with Maurice Malpas also scoring in a 3-2 defeat at Tannadice.

25th November

1950 - United beat Albion Rovers 4-0 at Cliftonhill with a hat-trick from Peter McKay and Frank Quinn also scoring.

1972 - Pat Gardner scores twice as United beat Aberdeen 3-2 at Tannadice. Jackie Copland also scores for United.

1989 - Dave Bowman scores a late winner from the edge of the box against his old team as United beat Hearts 2-1 at Tannadice, with Mixu Paatelainen also scoring.

2000 - With United still looking for their first League win of the season, Sean O'Connor and Craig Easton put United 2-0 up, but Dunfermline pull the game level in the 2nd half. Charlie Miller scores his first goal for the club with a last minute penalty to give United a 3-2 win.

26th November

1960 - Goals from Jimmy Briggs, Neil Mochan and Dennis Gillespie give United a 3-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

1986 - Jim McInally scores his first goal for United in the 3rd round of the UEFA Cup, as United beat Hadjuk Split 2-0 in the 1st leg at Tannadice, with John Clark opening the scoring. On the same day, manager Jim McLean signs goalkeeper Alan Main from Elgin City.

1994 - United beat Falkirk 3-1 at Brockville with goals from Craig Brewster, Jerren Nixon and Billy McKinlay.

27th November

1974 - George Fleming scores twice as United dump Aberdeen 4-0 at Tannadice, the other goals coming from Dave Narey and a Williamson own goal.

1985 - In the 3rd round of the UEFA Cup against Neuchatel Xamax, Davie Dodds and Ian Redford score in the 1st leg at Tannadice to give United a slender 2-1 lead to take to Switzerland. The under soil heating system is used for the first time, after being installed during the close season.

1999 - A Jan Telesnikov cracker from the edge of the box is enough to see off St Johnstone at Tannadice as United win 1-0.

2001 -Charlie Miller is sent off as United go out of the League Cup at the quarter final stage, losing 2-0 to Hibs at Easter Road.

28th November

1934 - United beat Edinburgh City 9-6 at Tannadice to record the highest scoring game in the clubs history.

1963 - A Scottish League team take on the League of Ireland at Celtic Park, and United wing-half Stewart Fraser scores a hat-trick in an outstanding 11-0 win.

1981 - In the club's third League Cup Final in as many years, Ralph Milne puts United 1-0 up against Rangers at Hampden. United looked to have sealed it with a spectacular Paul Sturrock goal, but the goal is chalked off for offside and Rangers go on to win 2-1, with Ian Redford scoring the winner.

1984 - The 3rd round of the UEFA Cup sees a Battle of Britain tie as United take on Manchester United at Old Trafford. Hamish McAlpine has a fantastic match as Paul Hegarty and Paul Sturrock get United's goals in a 2-2 draw in the 1st leg.

1998 - Joe Miller scores against his former club as United beat Aberdeen 3-0 at Pittodrie, with Craig Easton and Kjell Olofsson also scoring.

2000 - In only his third match since signing for the club, midfielder Jamie Fullarton suffers a horrific leg break in a 1-0 defeat at home to Kilmarnock that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season. Only the fast actions of the club's medical staff save Fullarton from an even worse fate.

29th November

1978 - Manager Jim McLean signs Dundee defender Iain Phillip for 25,000.

1986 - Tommy Coyne is sent off as United lose 2-1 to Falkirk at Brockville, with Ian Redford scoring United's goal.

1993 - Manager Ivan Golac signs Trinidad and Tobao forward Jerren Nixon from EMC Mowtown for 220,000, but the deal isn't finalised due to work permit problems.

30th November

1993 - Paddy Connolly scores the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Celtic at Tannadice.

1997 - After finding their form again and a run of 6 straight wins, United take on Celtic in the League Cup Final at Ibrox, but the fans are left disappointed as the team lose 3-0 in United's fifth appearance in the final.

2003 - Alan Archibald and Derek McInnes score their first goals for United to put United 2-0 up in the 1st half against Hearts at Tannadice. Hearts pull one back at the start of the 2nd half but United hold on for their first home win of the season.
